Classic Overpayment Scam Still Finding Victims

Jul 26, 2007 @ 02:11 am by Mark

There is an oldie but a goodie (baddie?) online scam out there where someone buys something online and overpays for it with a check or (later to be found out, fake) money order. They then ask for the item and the difference in price (change) sent back to them. Of course, then the check or money order turn out to be bad or fake.

Someone struck again in Pocatello, Idaho

Please remember that if someone can pay you for an item, they can pay you the correct amount. If they say they already have a check or money order made out for a different amount, ask them to get a new one for the correct amount. Protect yourself from scammers like this.
